The national factory-rooftop initiative: how to prepare
Practical steps to prepare your facility for rooftop solar projects.

The Egyptian state is promoting solar systems on the roofs of thousands of factories as part of a broader national clean-energy direction. Whether you join an official programme or carry out your project independently, the preparation steps are nearly the same.
An important note: Shamsak is not a government body and does not represent any official initiative. Our role is to help you prepare and deliver through approved partners.
1. Prepare your data
Gather 12 months of electricity bills, and define your actual operating hours and load types. This data is the basis of any feasibility study, and any programme or contractor will ask for it first.
2. Inspect your roof early
The most common question in industrial rooftop projects: can the roof bear the load? Early structural inspection saves you later surprises. Also note shading from chimneys or neighbouring buildings, and the condition of the insulation.
3. Understand the grid-connection path
Connecting a solar system to the grid involves procedures and approvals that vary with system size and location. Knowing this path early — before contracting — protects you from unrealistic timeline expectations.
4. Sort out your legal position
Property ownership or a long-term lease, and valid licences, are reviewed in any project of this kind. Prepare them before you need them.
5. Start with an energy audit
Everything above is summarised in one organised energy audit: data, inspection, load profile, and a connection path. From it you get a clear picture of what can be done at your site — the same picture any support programme or delivery partner needs.
In short
Early preparation costs almost nothing, but it makes you ready when the right opportunity becomes clear. Our Business Readiness Check is a quick starting point, and requesting an energy audit is the practical next step.
